Growth-Focused SEO & AI Marketing That Actually Drives Revenue

Building businesses. Exploring ideas. Telling stories.

I’m Ravidu Mario Weerakoon , a digital marketing strategist born in Italy, lived in UAE and now based in Sri Lanka, an entrepreneur, digital strategist and now journalist, with a career that has taken me from e-commerce and logistics to hospitality, digital marketing and independent media

I’ve never really followed a conventional career path. I’ve always been more interested in building things, solving problems and learning by doing.

My journey started in the world of e-commerce and logistics, where I gained early experience working with digital platforms and cross-border shipping. That experience eventually led me to build Surf2Ship, an e-commerce and cross-border logistics platform designed to make international online shopping simpler by combining price comparison with shipping solutions.

Building a business at a young age taught me lessons that no classroom could. It taught me about risk, customers, technology, operations, failure, persistence and what it actually takes to turn an idea into something real.

My journey then took me overseas to the United Arab Emirates, where I gained valuable international experience and a different perspective on business, people and the rapidly changing digital economy.

Eventually, I returned to Sri Lanka and took another leap — this time into hospitality.

I founded Ceylon Lodge – Airport Transit Hotel & Hostel, a hospitality venture built around helping travellers arriving in or departing from Sri Lanka find a comfortable, affordable and welcoming place to stay near Bandaranaike International Airport.

But my passion for technology and digital growth never disappeared.

Over the years, I have worked extensively across SEO, digital marketing, website development, branding, AI-powered marketing and performance-driven growth, helping businesses build stronger digital identities and turn online visibility into measurable results.

And now, a new chapter.

In 2026, I’m taking my work in a different direction.

I’m stepping into journalism and independent digital media through Lakbima News.

For me, this isn’t simply about publishing articles. It is about getting out there, asking questions, investigating what is happening, speaking to people, examining the facts and telling the stories that deserve attention.

Sri Lanka has thousands of stories — stories about business, technology, society, science, people, communities, politics, culture and the challenges facing the country.

I want to be part of telling those stories.

My background in business, technology and digital media gives me a different perspective as I enter journalism. I understand how businesses operate, how digital platforms shape information, how technology is changing society and how important it is to question what we are told rather than simply repeat it.

Lakbima News is the beginning of that journey.

I don’t know exactly where this next chapter will take me — and that’s what makes it exciting.

I’ve built businesses.

I’ve lived abroad.

I’ve started again.

I’ve learned from failures.

I’ve built things from the ground up.

And now, I’m ready to report, investigate and tell the stories of Sri Lanka.

This is the next chapter.

And it’s only just beginning.
